How we helped a US distributor create its first international sales presence in Belgium

What Our Client Was Looking For

Our client is a highly respected US distributor in the aerospace and defence sectors. They have been established for over 25 years and are a leader in the domestic US market. The company sells to over 50 countries worldwide, but to date has not had an overseas in-house sales presence. They decided to recruit their first international sales employee in Belgium in order to increase sales in EMEA.

How We Helped

The client asked us to guide them in setting up the finance and compliance for their Belgian expansion. We provided the following services:

  • We advised them on the correct legal and tax structure to support their sales activities in Belgium.
  • We gave them a fully-costed proposal for the setup and ongoing operation of the finance and compliance aspects of their new entity.
  • We introduced them to an expert local Belgian partner to look after the creation of their entity, together with the ongoing accounting and tax requirements that they need to fulfil.
  • We worked with them to establish a banking relationship with a Belgian bank. This was essential, as a bank account is needed to gain full entity status in Belgium. Our participation was key in this process as the client was relatively unknown in the Belgian market, and we project managed our client’s due diligence process with the Belgian bank, including an on-site visit.
